My intended use is different from the typical toy... it's going to be the inner skeleton for a halloween costume I'm making but regardless, I have been highly entertained with it! The boxes it came in were pretty damaged but the product survived. Most likely a problem on the shipping side of things. Review: WOOO! - So...I'm 18 and bought this thing...for myself. XD If I sit down inside of it there is a fair amount of room in it, and I'm 5,6. I took it to my little 8 year old sister's baseball practice and played with the kids with it. It scared me that it would break because the joints don't seem very strong, but they were crawling in it and everything, and we would push it back and forth. The ball would bounce a lot and the joints stayed put! Though a fairly large girl fell backwards and stepped on it and it cracked a piece, but that was most likely do to her twisting and putting a lot of weight on that one area. Still works like a charm! Excuse me while I go play in it like a fort! ## Features - MS801 Features: -Instructions to hang as a cool kinetic mobile.-Educational booklet about the geometry of the sphere. - Magically Expands - Portable Playhouse - Amazing Activity Ball - Indoor/Outdoor Play ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B00005N5FV | | Age Range Description | Kid | | Best Sellers Rank | #221,862 in Toys & Games ( See Top 100 in Toys & Games ) #2,036 in Educational Science Kits | | Brand Name | Hoberman | | Color | Multicolor | | Customer Reviews | 4.2 out of 5 stars 57 Reviews | | Educational Objective | Creative Thinking | | Included Components | Pulley, Instructions | | Item Dimensions | 17.8 x 16.8 x 15 inches | | Item Type Name | Sphere | | Item Weight | 9 pounds | | Manufacturer | Hoberman | | Manufacturer Part Number | MS801 | | Manufacturer Warranty Description | No Warranty | | Manufacturer recommended age | 6 - 15 years | | Material Type | Foam, Polypropylene, Rubber, Silicone | | Model Number | MS801 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Number of Players | 1 | | Operation Mode | Manual | | Power Source | Hand-powered | | Set Name | Mega Sphere Spectrum | | Size | 18-54 inches | | Subject Character | Hoberman | | Supported Battery Types | No batteries required | | Theme | Toy | | UPC | 025766108012 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | ## Images ![Mega Sphere - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61COr1RZffL.jpg) ![Mega Sphere - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81REnrhYu+L.jpg) ![Mega Sphere - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81kc0Di+QbL.jpg) ![Mega Sphere - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61uJMd95FTL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: How big does the sphere expand to?** A: I don't know measurements but my sister and I (2 full grown women, 5'7 feet tall) were able to get inside at the same time on a dare. It was a gift for my nephew and it is rather amazing how large it expands to. **Q: how big is it colapsed** A: About one and a half the size of a basket ball. **Q: When expanded, is the circumference 4.5ft or is it the radius?** A: The diameter is just over 4 feet. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This thing is awesome! My sons eyes light up when he see's this thing grow into this massive sphere. Highly recommend this for kids but make sure there is some supervision so they lock it into place correctly and not pinch their little fingers. ## Frequently Bought Together - Hoberman Sphere - Mega Sphere Spectrum Multicolor, 18-54 inches - Hoberman: Sphere-- Expanding Universe Glow --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://barbados.desertcart.com/products/13421850-mega-sphere](https://barbados.desertcart.com/products/13421850-mega-sphere) --- *Product available on Desertcart Barbados* *Store origin: BB* *Last updated: 2026-11-03*
