Can the mat be trimmed to fit in a difficult location?

Probably. The thickness of the mat is only 1/8" so if you have good heavy duty scissors it should be not problem. I love this mat. Good luck.

Could I put this half on hardwood floor and half on my rug? So when I roll it will be smooth and not catch the edge of the rug?

I don;t see why not as long as the transition between floor and rug is to great. This mat is quite flexable so if not too sharp should be able to bridge the two materials.

Is this anti-slip for a rolling chair?

It works fine on a hard smooth surfaced flooring. The chair wheels may have a little trouble rolling over the transition from floor to mat. Not good on carpet.
