Can these be added to a bonfire for smell?

Hello! Technically, yes, you could add them to a bonfire, but the smell given off would likely go unnoticed, as it would be overpowered by the other wood that's burning. These wood chips are meant for adding flavor to food that's being grilled or smoked. Thanks!

Can these be used with a small stove top smoker, or are they only for outdoor unit usage?

IT'S RISKY but I use them successfully indoors in my downdraft Jenn Air grill. Using a microwave bowl I cover the wood chips with water & microwave for 30-60 seconds. They produce a lot of moist smoke & do not catch on fire near as easily. I keep a water sprayer to control flame-ups. There must be an excellent outside vacuum to prevent asphyxiation or fire. Must be closely monitored.
