Does this work with 110v household wires. Trying to trace a line in the attic. Thanks.

yes,I have traced dozens of wires. The wires cannot be hot and the wires cannot be connected to each other through a bulb or heating element. So unplug everything when starting a trace, turn off the breaker and you should hear a signal when attached to the wires. If no signal then the wires are touching in a dead short or a lamp is on while still plugged in or maybe an appliance is on. Hot and neutral cannot be touching in any way or signal is lost. You can actually hold near wires in attic to sense the signal through the plastic. I have traced like this as well. you can actually trace back to breaker panel. This has saved many hours. I once traced a wire through the walls to a hidden breaker panel in an attic closet. The breaker had tripped years before and no one could figure why the outlets in the living room had failed. I traced to a second story attic closet once used as a dark room for photography.

Can i use this on a armored cable when tracing?

It can be used to trace any type of cable - basic principle being that the cable should have the toner attached to it and the probe will then pick up the frequency and make the sound to trace the same. Hope this helps!

can I use this to trace continuity on AC wires?

Absolutely. MAKE SURE ALL CIRCUTS ARE OFF! It will Not work on Any live circuits.

Will this tone "live" network cables connected to switch?
