I find these books have a lot of very useful information when planning to visit a national park and ...

I have the National Parks of the United States book and after visiting several National Parks in Canada I realized it would be very helpful if I also got the National Parks of Canada book since I hope to be visiting more national parks in Canada. I find these books have a lot of very useful information when planning to visit a national park and I recommend them.

Great book for planning visits to Canada's National Parks.

Great book for planning visits to Canada's National Parks. Some hikes are listed (a best of...), which is helpful when trying to get a feel for a park. We always stop at the visitors center once we arrive to grab a hiking trail guide though, which is usually more detailed.Definitely recommend this book if you're thinking about traveling to CNP!

Great guide

I love this guide. Gorgeous photos, and tons of great information about each park, including best times to visit, how to get there, fees, etc. This is a book you pick up and just keep flipping through.

National Geographic Guide to the National Parks of Canda

National Geographic does an excellent job with their guide books. They are one of the best guide books published. Has color pictures of the parks.

Handy Guide to seeing National Parks of Canada

Have the US National Parks version which I love so wanted this for Canadian Parks which were are going to start exploring this summer. Great information on each of the parks including hiking trails and activites or sites to see. Great pictures included. Gives you info on camp grounds as well as lodging inside and outside of the parks.

The BEST book on Canada's National Parks as written and published by anyone !

I was pleasantly surprised with my purchase. So much so I was motivated in thanks to write this review. Siimply ... It's a wonderful National Geographic book that is amazingly detailed and complete. As usual, wonderful vibrant photos are included, which is natural and to be expected given N.G. reputation for it's magazine. To note before I go on, I really try to include the good and the bad in my reviews even of the products and books I love, so that if you are thinking of buying this book you get an honest & balanced review that will help you decide. And so I really tried to find something negative to say, something to improve on, but I couldn't find anything. (If I do find anything critical to say I'll return to add it here in my review.)Every park in the Canadian National Park system is listed from Newfoundland to British Columbia. Parks in the Northern Territories like Ukkusiksalik N.P. are not forgoten. Even though they get very few visitors they each get about 4 to 8 pages. And most parks get 8 pages each. It looks like National Geographic has read past reviews complaining that too few or slim details where given in other older books and they corrected that here with this new edition. I hope all future books from NG become this detailed. You would not get as much information from the park headquarters themselves unless you were actually in the park. The book even includes some details about proposed N.P. to come.Maps are included for each current N.P. Adresses to get more information. How to get there. Best season to go. How to visit. Fees to get in. Information on pets are also included. Things to see and do in each. Special advisories and campground information. Even outfitters in the area and motels and hotels nearby.Anyway I hope this review helps those of you considering purchasing a copy. I myself am going on a long RV road trip and plan several visits to national parks in each province. I will certainly be using this book to plan my visits and I'll be bringing this book with me as I travel. I would recommend this to "anyone" planning a trip to one or several of the national parks in Canada. No other book on the subject has as many details. It is bar none the best book I have found on the subject so far!! They've gone out of their way to really try (and they achieved it b.t.w.) to comprehensively cover every Canadian National Park in existence so far. I plan on going on an "RV Road Trip AROUND THE WORLD", and, you can look me up on Facebook, and later on on Youtube as well, typing that name into the Google search bar to see the proof of me using it (or even to check out if I've finally found better!? I doubt it! I'll be starting by crossing Canada from East to West and all the way North in the summers of 2018 and 2019!! If you do find better please let me know!!) I try to use only the best when I can afford it, especially in prepping such a long and arduous multi year trip around the world ... Amazon is one such product/service I'll be using. Since I'll be getting products I order all over North America, and later quite often everywhere around the world (I think?) since I can get my purchases sent to me within 2 days using Prime (well maybe not when I'll be in the jungles of Papua New Guinea, but you get the idea!! ... Actually since I'm on the subject: Amazon, do you have any plans to extend your 2 day shipping via Prime everywhere around the world in the next few years?? It would really be practical for a long time loyal customer such as myself! (I figure it's worth a shot me asking, right?)) ... And at this time this book by National Geographic is the best there is, anywhere on the market. Especially if your interested in getting ready to visit Canada's National Parks like I am. Same goes for the other book in the series covering Canada's National Historic Sites.Simply put, I HIGHLY recommend the book to everyone and anyone with an interest in the subject! It is worth the money. Admittedly, I wish that could be said for all National Geographic's books whatever the subject matter - unfortunately it is not. Not at this time anyway. But this one is!!!ENJOY!CARPE DIEM!

Perfect for Canada's 150th.

Great book and perfect for Canada's 150th Birthday. Descriptions well laid out. Good pictures. Descriptions are enough to invite further research if the area appeals. Not a pocket book, but small enough to carry in luggage, car or RV and to use as a reference along the journey.
