This was soooo great for our house. Our townhome goes wall to banister and no gate was working so my hubby installed this. Super easy, already came with all of the tools, and very sturdy! Great value for money

This worked awesome on my round staircase. Used 2 of them and a Perma Child Safety Ultimate Retractable Baby Gate. Painted them black so they wouldn't stand out. They are very sturdy and secure. Googled pilot hole drill size to keep wood from splitting. The gate has a slight wrinkle that I will need to raise the catch side 1/4" to get rid of. The templates that came with the gate were a big help.

Maybe if you have a symmetrical square banister this is ok (although the black zip ties are hideous and the foam tape will certainly damage your banister when removed), however if you have a round banister the instructions say to use "extra foam" to pad it out... so you have to go find something to work with the round part yourself and once you do it'll still slide around and not be secure. Also, if the base of your banister is extra wide (mine is 4.5") the zip ties won't fit anyway - I joined two together to get it to work but it looks terrible and the description didn't say anything about a limit on the width of the banister. Slides all over the place even when the zip ties are as tight as possible. Will be returning this disaster.

Easy to use, you just zip tie it to your stair banister. You just need a saw (small hand saw works) to cut the wood piece down to the appropriate height, so there is a bit of work but manageable! I like that there were protective foam strips to make sure that the banister doesn't get scratched from the zip ties. It's been a few months and it's holding up well, probably better than the side that goes into drywall.

I've had this for several weeks now. I like it, but. It came missing the screws (and screwdriver), but that was easy enough to fix with screws I had. However looking at the picture (on the listing), there's the top part that sticks up above the banister. That is exactly how mine is, that's the reason I had to buy this. When I have the gate installed, the top of the gate presses very hard into that top section where there is no banister behind it. I have this installed very securely, as tight as I could possible get it with the supplied zip ties, but it still bows out somewhat because of the pressure on the top that I've described. It's fine so far, but I'm afraid with more time that it will snap the wood on this extender. Time will tell.

Exactly what I needed. We did not want to drill into our banister and this product worked perfectly! I was able to attach our gate and it’s perfectly safe and sturdy.

Very cheap wood, careful when assembling or it’ll splinter if you use slightly too much force. I worry about relying on this for child safety and think I should buy legit 2x4s instead…
