A delight, and great customer service
love this canister. And as you’ll see further down, I’ve come to love the company, whose customer service is astounding. I first heard of the Atmos when I saw it praised on YouTube by a marvelously thorough British coffee expert, James Hoffman. Who did wonder about paying $30 for a storage canister, but found it kept coffee fresher than any other option. I say that if you care about coffee — and maybe spent at least this much on a scale, and much more for a grinder — there’s no reason you wouldn’t want the Atmos. Which, on top of how well it works, is elegant, and a pleasure to use. After you close it, you twist the cap back and forth, until a button on top goes down, showing green from the space around it. This expels air from the inside, so your coffee sits in something approaching a vacuum. Then, when you want some coffee, you press a button on top, and air whooshes in. Now you can unscrew the top. And smell fresh coffee. Of course it won’t keep coffee fresh forever — nothing will — but it does a great job, And gives you confidence that it does, because it’s both elegant and solidly built, and because you feel the air going out as you twist (the twists keep feeling firmer), and because you can hear the air whooshing out. So, customer service! So many points for Fellow. When I bought this, it didn’t work. The seal wouldn’t stay sealed, for more than a few hours. When I told them about this, they replied the next day — on a weekend (!) — explaining what the problem was, and suggesting a fix. And then on their own initiative, they emailed two days later to ask if the fix had worked! It hadn’t, so they immediately sent me a new top for the thing , even sending email updates, as few smaller companies do, tracking the shipment and telling me when the item would arrive. The new top works. Happy customer. One note to anyone buying this, and a suggestion to the company. Expelling air from the thing can take as many as 30 twists. Nothing that comes in the box tells us that, so at first I thought the seal didn’t work at all. Maybe Fellow doesn’t want to scare us off, but still, since this is a fact about the canister (as they confirmed to me), we might as well be told. If anyone thinks 30 twists is too much for fresh coffee, that’s your choice. But I’m not bothered. I could even say I’m helping out with my coffee’s freshness, and getting a little morning exercise. 😊 Highly recommended, especially for coffee obsessive. I also btw have Fellow’s Ode coffee grinder, a truly thoroughbred piece of gear.

Effective cansiter for lengthening freshness of coffee beans.
I like these canisters because they keep freshly roasted coffee beans at peak freshness until I've used them up (usually 10 days from opening a bag). Some say the seals don't hold, but that's not ever been my experience (with three of them, over four years) -- what happens is the beans outgas CO2, which is a gas actually protective of coffee bean freshness. Freshly-roasted beans outgas quite rapidly, but this process slows down considerably (even for a year or more). The only reason for outside air to enter through the seal is if bean chaff or other small particles get stuck in the rim of the canister by the lid - hard to see, but running a fingernail covered with a facial tissue gets this crud out (usually, if you're pouring beans out of the canister vice spooning them out. Mine have worked wonderfully. The 700cc size canister will usually hold the coffee from a 12oz bag - in cases where it doesn't, using some of the coffee right away solves this problem (I never open a bag unless I'm going to use some right away anyway).

Received two, both defective
I ordered one of these in late November 23, and by early February 24, the indicator seal was decompressing on its own after a day or two - the container was defective and wouldn't hold a vacuum - its sole purpose. Initially, customer service said that they would have Fellow (the seller) contact me within 2 business days about a refund. I never heard from the seller, so I reached back out to Amazon. Although I was technically outside the Amazon 30-day return window, it's absurd that a $40 vacuum seal container would stop holding a seal after only about two months. I contacted customer service, and although they didn't have the option to issue a return directly, they suggested I purchase a second container and said I could reach out as soon as I received it for customer service to issue a "returnless refund," functionally replacing the initial defective one for no cost. I received the second canister, which seemed to work...for almost two weeks. Then, I noticed that the vacuum indicator button remains depressed - indicating the canister is under an airtight seal - even when the lid is fully off. So, this second canister is also defective. And, since I technically already had a refund issued for this second "purchase," I can't return the second canister for a third canister (or for an additional refund). So now I am stuck with two defective canisters, having paid for one and wanting neither. Fellow products look lovely (with a price that reflects that keen design), but this item doesn't work for the one thing it is supposed to do. Learn from my loss: don't put yourself in my situation where you're stuck with a piece of pretty junk you can't return that stops working almost immediately after the Amazon return window closes.

Quality is great!
I've seen many reviews on this cannister. Some were discouraging, some were positive and some were mixed...Here's my experience after going for it...I now love grinding my own coffee beans which I now am kind of obsessed with...I bought a storage container from Corecicle which has a hand compressor it's called which pushes air out of the container and seals in freshness. Love it. Then I needed a smaller vacumn sealed cannister to hold at least a days worth of fresh ground coffee as I drink about 3 cups a day cause it's so good! I love this new small .04L cannister. If it stops pressurizing just open it up, take off and clean the gasket and the area that the gasket seats in and will work fine! Don't get sucked into the electric top which is outrageously priced! Buy this container! It's Awesome!!!

I bought this container as I trust Fellow quality. Unfortunately it became useless in a few days. It didn't vacuum at all. Replacement was offered but I don't want to risk my money again.

*updated review* Read and watched several reviews on this product before I pulled the trigger. 1. The canister was already vacuumed out when it arrived, who knows for how long, but hopefully a sign of what is to come instead of the negative/faulty reviews on this product. 2. Emptied out my freshly opened 454g (1lb) bag of beans, but it does not hold all of it. Good enough for me as I scooped out about a week's worth of beans to make enough space, and to test whether the canister can maintain about a week.of vacuum while I finish up the beans I scooped out. 3. Regarding the faulty vacuum that I've been reading on many reviews, I can only hope these people had freshly roasted beans to put into the canister, as beans will release CO2. Maybe these beans were releasing CO2 enough to pop the vacuum seal? Guess I'll find out whether this happens to my canister. Otherwise a good looking/feeling product, not a slippery canister to me as some people mention. The air release button is very satisfying to push, what with the whoosh noise the canister makes when it breaks the seal. *My initial vacuum lasted from Thursday PM to Sunday AM. I contacted Fellows support to ask about this, and they told me that this will happen, and they usually suggest re-vacuuming every 4-5 days. I missed this in their product description on their actual webpage, and it clearly states that you will need to revacuum every 4-5 days. Once I revacuumed my beans in Sunday morning, the seal lasted up until I needed to open it on Friday morning (5 days). I am very happy with this product, but would definitely contact customer support if the vacuum lasted less than a day like some reviews I've read. Hopefully this item lasts longer than a few weeks, and I'm going to be conscious about not over-vacuuming to hopefully preserve the sealing mechanism.
